Let's talk about the CNBC Article + Closing on Farmhouse

Whew! In case you missed it, I have been PISSED about that CNBC article. Mainly because of the blatant lie that was the original title. “I couldn’t afford a home in Atlanta, so I bought one in Italy”.

I was so confused.

How can you quote something that I never said?

How much since does that make being that I currently live in Atlanta and Italy was my families holiday home, at least until my son graduates and/or I retire?

Maybe I wouldn’t have been as upset at the misrepresentation if it wasn’t a show specifically focused on Millennials; how we make our money and how we spend our money.

We filmed for two full days, about 20 hours total and I shared all about my investments, which includes farm land in mississippi, a 40 acre ranch in Texas and 16 acres in upstate New York.

I was upset because it was easier and more popular to share half a story than the whole store and to paint it as “can’t afford” which felt like a slap in the face for all I’ve worked to build.

I would rather be inspiration to others who are parents about what is possible.

Though CNBC changed the title later that evening, dozens of other publications picked it up, most rewriting the story and adding more untruths to it, leaning into the “struggle” story and quite frankly it pissed me off.

I’ve been quiet because I felt violated.

I took my son out of school for a week to travel and do the show. I spend almost 3k between the 2 of us on travel, took off from clients for the week, etc to do the show to feel like it was a slap in the face.

I went from angry, to frankly hurt…and then back to angry again.

I laid in my bed for days trying to figure out how this picture got painted. WHY it was painted.

And then, I realized that though I was horribly misrepresented, there are many of you who were encouraged and you did see where it was possible for you.

And I held my head a bit higher.

Here is the truth I would tell anyone and this is a quote directly from me…because I am typing it….

“I do not suggest anyone who can’t afford to live in their home country to move to another country”.
